Background: Chita Rivera
has incredibly, one of the most loved and
adored performers on the popular Broadway
for over half a century. This amazing personality
holds the promise of an incredible sell
out. Most recently this blissful singer
starred in the hugely popular musical ''The
Visit at the Goodman Theater,'' created
by Webb and Kander in Chicago. This sensational
performer has won the prestigious Tony Award
twice for her tremendous performances in
“The Rink" and "Kiss of
the Spider Woman". Rivera has been
consistent performing at the Broadway with
Sweet Charity and Mr. Wonderful, Shinbone
Alley and Bajour Can-Can. She has also been
cast in touring performances as Pippin and
Sweet Charity. She has also won the hugely
acclaimed "Kennedy Center Honoree"
in 2002.
This new musical joyride is a unique
celebration of the life and tremendous
career of Chita Rivera. She has starred
in many hit musicals such as Kiss of the
Spider Woman, Bajour, Bye Bye Birdie,
West Side Story and The Rink among other
huge hits. Chita is a part of the fascination
star cast herself along with ten other
amazing cast members. The well defined
cast includes Cleve Asbury, Madeleine
Ehlert, Edgard Gallardo, Richard Amaro,
Lloyd Culbreath, Malinda Farrington, and
Deidre Goodwin among other cast members.
This play will present some of her best
performances. This show also features
soothing songs by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen
Flaherty.
The show was premiered at the famous Old
Globe Theater in San Diego on September
10, 2005; after gaining a tremendous response
from the audiences it heartily moves to
Broadway for a December opening. This
show features a highly acclaimed book
written by Terrence McNally, who has already
won the prestigious Tony Award four times.
This show takes the audiences through
a famous tour of some of the best and
hugely popular American musical theaters.
Very well and articulated choreography
is contributed by Jerome Robbins, Graciela
Daniele and Bob Fosse among others. This
sizzling star will dance to "Dance
at the Gym" and "America"
from the famous West Side Story. The show
will also feature "Shriner's Ballet"
from Bye, Bye Birdie and "All That
Jazz" from Chicago among others.
