Background: DELIRIUM is
the first-ever live arena performance by
Cirque du Soleil. DELIRIUM is the latest
offering that will launch another wave of
ticket hunters. The show is a multifaceted
extravaganza of unmatched scale featuring
Cirque du Soleil's earlier hit music remixed.
DELIRIUM, among other things includes, an
urban tribal beat and awe-inspiring visuals,
musicians, singers, dancers and fabulous
display of technical magnitude. All this
taken to their logical limit transforms
the arena into joyous frenzy. Michel Lemieux
and Victor Pilon are the creators and directors
of this wild escapade into heightened fun.
Delirium gives music a new dimension.
It has texts are in French, Spanish, Wolof,
English and Portuguese. Cirque du Soleil's
21 greatest hits that were originally
composed by René Dupéré,
Benoît Jutras and Violaine Corradi
have been re-mixed to great effect by
Francis Collard. He is a Quebec producer
cum composer and arranger who has given
a whole new feel to these powerful classics.
This is also a show where the musicians
naturally become the main performers and
the music the core content of this mega
event.
DELIRIUM has a star cast of 45 highly
talented and multidisciplinary artists.
Every artist is unique and has been chosen
on the basis of individual virtuosity.
DELIRIUM gets together 6 singers, 11 musicians,
18 dancers, 2 main characters and 8 acrobats
in all. An unbelievable 12 countries are
represented in the composition of the
troupe. It includes two Americans too.
Karl Baumann stars as one of the main
characters and hails from Las Vegas. Alexandra
Apjarova is a dancer and belongs to New
York. The numerous acrobatic dances are
choreographed by Dave St-Pierre. But you
will not miss the characteristic Cirque
du Soleil feats including aerial, acrosport
and those famed hand balancing stunts.
The North American Tour of DELIRIUM begins
in Montreal on January 26th, 2006 at the
Bell Center. It will be followed by two
more shows on the 27th and 28th. The show
is one of the most awaited events of the
year and fans are already queuing up.
