Artist:
RFK
Genre: Off Broadway
Background: Take a peak
at the other side of Robert F. Kennedy.
This is a play that brings to us the Kennedy
that we had not known before. Away from
the man on the podium and making speeches,
here is a man encircled by dilemmas, doubts
and convictions. The story is true and the
presentation life-like. That is why it is
one of the most viewed plays around. That
is also why its tickets are never to be
found.
Robert F. Kennedy was publicly known
to be a shy, intense imbued with boyishness.
He was also a misunderstood man. He is
well summed up by his surviving brother
as a man who “Saw wrong and tried
to right it…saw suffering and tried
to heal it…saw war…and tried
to stop it.”
Robert F. Kennedy was a Attorney General
1964. He had a happy life till then. But
he was a deeply hurt man by late 1964.
It was not easy to get over the assassination
of President John F. Kennedy, elder brother
for him. Suddenly at the crossroads. The
presidential elections were approaching
fast. Eventually he got the invitation
to the White House. President Lyndon Johnson
put to rest the speculation if RFK would
finally be his vice-presidential running
mate. That was one event that changed
not only his own life but the course of
history. The next four years saw him grow
from a father, husband or a grieving brother
to an ace and compassionate politician.
Eventually he became the NY Senator and
an outspoken critic of the Vietnam war.
He was later elected as the Democratic
Presidential candidate. The play follows
all this in elaborate detail. The finesse
is all out there to see.
The play is engrossing and intricate
in its details. The play is written by
Jack Holmes. He is plays RFK better than
anybody else and has already done it in
''Awful Grace of God'' and got the critical
acclaim for it. ''RFK,'' his first full
length play. Larry Moss is the director
who has given the play its finesse and
intricacy. The sets are done by Neil Patel
who comes out a winer through his work.
When you decide to spend the evening
with RFK, make sure you get the tickets
